TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Arizona Baseball secured the series win over Stanford with a 5-0 shutout win Saturday.

It was a historic night at Hi Corbett Field for several reasons.

Arizona Baseball secured the series win over Stanford thanks to a complete game shutout from pitcher Clark Candiotti.

Pitcher Clark Candiotti threw a complete game shutout, his first in a Wildcats uniform. He gave up no runs on five hits in nine innings, striking out seven in 119 pitches.

It was also Chip Hale's 100th win as head coach of the program.

Garen Caulfield started off strong at the plate, doubling to left center. Mason White scored from first to give Arizona a 1-0 lead. The Cats extended that lead to 2-0 off a wild pitch from the Cardinal pitcher.

In the third inning, Maddox Mihalakis went opposite to left center for a RBI single. Caulfield scored to put the Cats up 3-0.

Arizona tacked on two more runs in the 8th inning off a RBI double from Brendan Summerhill and sacrifice fly from Mason White.

Arizona sits atop the Pac-12 standings with eight games to go in the regular season. The Cats boast a 16-7 Pac-12 record and have won four of their last five conference series. They are the first team to lock-in a spot in the Pac-12 Tournament.

The Wildcats will go for the series sweep over Stanford Sunday at noon.
