Yorktown Celebrates New York State Maple Weekends March 22-30

Yorktown will celebrate New York State Maple Weekend on March 22-23 and 29-30 with events highlighting the local maple syrup industry.

The festivities kick off with the annual Pancake Breakfast at the Yorktown Grange Hall.

“You can start your maple weekend experience by having a delicious pancake breakfast with locally sourced maple syrup and locally sourced bacon and sausage,” said John Bell, the Grange’s treasurer. “While you’re there you can have a hayride and enjoy petting tame farm animals.”

The celebration continues in the afternoon at White Oak Farm, which will host an open house and demonstration of maple syrup production. Visitors can learn about the process and purchase a variety of maple syrup products directly from the farm.

“White Oak Farm is the only commercial maple syrup producer in Westchester County,” said owner Bri Hart. “It’s a beautiful place to visit. The farm is gorgeous. Bring your kids, take a walk or hike, and just explore.”

In 2024, New York produced 846,000 gallons of maple syrup, making the state the second largest producer in the U.S. behind Vermont, according to the state Department of Agriculture. White Oak Farm is the southernmost commercial maple syrup producer in New York.

“Maple Weekend is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Yorktown’s rich agricultural past and the dedicated farmers who continue to operate within our community,” said Supervisor Ed Lachterman.
